Competition Structure

The competition will be set up as a ‘Modified Round Robin League.’  Each team will play at least 3 matches with winning teams progressing to knockout rounds.

Matches will be played over October and November with the exact number of weeks determined by how many teams sign up.

The Top 32* teams will advance to the championship playoffs and enter a single-elimination knockout bracket to determine the champion and prize winners.

      Prepare to Play Your Best, Before the Games Begin!

      You can practice with the DartConnect scoring app before the tournament and outside of your scheduled matches, with friends, against team mates or vs the computer.

      OCTOBER 1st – TEAM PRACTICE ROUND!

      • All registered teams should plan to participate in the practice round on Tuesday, 01-October-2024, the week before the official matches begin
      • You will be paired with another team to play the identical format of the official season
      • This is a great opportunity to test of your pub’s WiFi and video streaming for the real thing!
      • Team’s will receive instructions and additional info after the registration period has ended

      When the Tournament Begins

      MATCH NIGHT IS TUESDAY!

      The tournament will commence on Tuesday 8th October @7pm. Matches will be played each Tuesday evening at 7pm until the tournament is finished. The exact number of matches and rounds will be determined by the final number of teams that sign up. The tournament will run no later than the end of November 2024.

      Teams should be logged into the Darts Connect platform ready to play their matches no later than 18:50 each Tuesday match night.

      TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE

      The tournament schedule will be released one week prior to round one.**

      Group Stage:
      Teams will be organized into divisional groups of 3-4 teams
      Every team is guaranteed a minimum of 2-3 matches depending on group size.

      Playoff Stage:
      Top 16 Qualifying teams advance to the Championship Bracket which is single elimination knockout. Playoffs will last between 4-6 weeks depending on team numbers. Note: Playoff qualification may change based on participation numbers.

      GAME PLAY

      Team captains will log into the scoring device (smartphone or tablet) and select the match from their schedule. The team’s opponents will do the same thing and both teams will be able to play and score their match in real time, player one throws, enters their score, submits and then their opponent throws.

      A step by step guide on how to login to the darts connect platform and play your matches will be provided ahead of the first round.

      LIVE STREAMING

      Teams are strongly encouraged to have a second device for live streaming their match. We advise you to run the scoring app on a phone/tablet next to your dartboard, while running “DC VideoConnect” on a separate device with the camera pointing to the dartboard. Live Streaming your matches will make your games more engaging and you’ll have a better rapport with your opponents.       Using DC VideoConnect

      MATCH FORMAT & SCORING

      • Teams play all matches from their host venue.
      • Four sets of Singles 501 SIDO. Each set will be Play All 3 legs (not “best of”)
      • In the group stage, teams earn 2 points for a match win and 1 point for a tie (with statistical tie-breakers as needed for division standings)
      • Playoffs will follow a similar format as the group stage except best of 5 sets, all sets will be best of 3 legs (first to win 2 legs wins). First to 3 set wins advances to the next round.

      Full Match Rules

      GROUP STAGE – Match Format Details

      1. Teams will be organized into groups of 4 and play a “round-robin” schedule of one match versus each team in their group for a total of 3 matches. Group size and match count may vary based on total team count. 
      2. Each Group Stage match will be structured as follows: 
        1. All legs will be standard 501, Straight Start, Double Finish to win
        2. Each week, teams will play a full match consisting of 4 sets of Singles 501. Each set will be 3 legs with ALL legs to be played.
          1. Players that win 2 or 3 legs will win the set; players that win 1 or 0 legs will lose the set
          2. Teams that win 3 or more sets will win the match; teams with 1 or fewer set wins will have a loss
          3. If teams win 2 sets each, the match will be a tie/draw
        3. Each set will be singles play consisting of one player from each team competing. Players are not allowed to play more than one set per match.
        4. The “HOME” team will start all ODD numbered sets and the AWAY team will start all EVEN numbered sets. Each set will alternate leg starts after the first leg.
        5. League points earned will be 2 points for a match win, 1 point for a tie/draw and 0 points for a loss. League standings will be published on DartConnect TV (tv.dartconnect.com). For teams tied within their division, statistical tie breakers will be Season Match Win Record, Head to Head League Points and Season Leg Win %, in order.
      3. The captains are responsible for the smooth running of each match.  If there are any questions or concerns that can’t be resolved by the captains during the match, contact the organizer. 

      CHAMPIONSHIP PLAYOFFS – Match Format Details

      1. The top 16 teams will advance to the Championship Playoffs, a single-elimination knockout bracket. The top 16 will consist of the 1st place teams from each group. Additional teams may qualify based on 3-dart average until the total number of teams is reached beginning with 2nd place teams, then third place teams if necessary, etc.
      2. The number of teams qualifying for the playoffs may be adjusted based on the total team count.
      3. Each Playoff match will be structured as follows: 
        1. The match format will be similar to the Group Stage format except all sets will be best of 3 legs (first to win 2 legs wins) with an additional tie-breaker set if necessary.
        2. Once a team wins 3 sets, they will be declared the match winner and advance to the next round unless it is the finals.
        3. If teams are tied 2-2 after 4 sets, an additional set of singles 501, best of 3 legs, will be played to break the tie. The team captain may select any player from their team to play the tie-breaker set.
        4. The “HOME” team (assigned random) will start all ODD numbered sets and the AWAY team will start all EVEN numbered sets. Each set will alternate leg starts after the first leg.

      Welcome to the Playoffs

      Congratulations to all teams!

      Important reminders:

      • The Top 16 Teams qualify for the championship knockout bracket.  To view the playoff bracket: Click Here  Note: Bracket will not be available until after the group stage and makeup matches are completed.
      • The playoffs are “Single Elimination” – the losing team is eliminated and winning team continues on to the next round until only one team remains to be crowned the Darts Stars Champion!
      • Playoff Match Format – The playoff format is almost identical to the group stage, with the following key differences:
        • Each set is now “Best of 3 Legs” – the first to win 2 legs wins the set
        • If teams are tied at 2 sets each, a fifth set tie-breaker will determine the match winner
        • If tied at 2-2, captains will select a player to play the fifth set
        • After selecting the final player, tap “Next Player Lineup” to begin the set
      • Playoff matches should be played with a video stream. If you have any issues getting connect via video please contact us on the Facebook Page.

      PRIZES  (Provided by Star Pubs)

      Teams will be competing for the top prize of a team long-table to the World Darts Championships at Alexandra Palace in December, provided by Sky Sports.

      There will also be a team prizes for the runners up and additional prizes for qualifying participants.

      Championship bracket winners: Winning team will receive 10 hospitality tickets to The World Darts Championships at Alexandra Palace on Saturday 21st December for the afternoon session. Tickets include dedicated hospitality entrance, welcome drink, souvenir programme, pre-session meal, complimentary wine, beer and soft drinks, long table in main area. Winning team will also receive a winner’s trophy. Tickets will be released 48 hours prior to the event via email. Prize includes tickets only and all other expenses will be covered by the winner including transportation and accommodation.

      Championship bracket runners-up: The second place team in the championship bracket will win personalised darts team uniforms for up to 10 members. A meeting will be hosted by Mesh Marketing to gather sizes and design preferences from the team. The meeting will be scheduled within 21 days of the final game via email, with the registered team captain. Prize to also include a darts ring light and a darts accessory kit.

      Winning Pub: The pub from which the championship bracket winners compete will win a visit from a professional darts player (darts professional to be confirmed following the completion of the competition depending on their availability) The winning pub prize will be fulfilled by Sky and visit will take place before the end of March of the following year.

      FAQS

      Can matches be rescheduled?

      Yes, but only if both teams agree to this prior to the match commencing. All matches must be completed by the end of each match week or no later than the makeup match week at the end of the season. If an opponent is not able to meet your reschedule request, your team will have to forfeit the points for that week’s game.

      Can two teams from the same pub register?

      Yes multiple teams can register, but 1 dart board per team would be required in the venue.
