For events that feature overlapping competitions (most common in North America), DartConnect’s Digital Steel Knockout Brackets will highlight a player that is already actively playing in a different competition.
For example, the mixed doubles may still be playing when the men’s singles is drawn and started. In the singles bracket, a player who is active in the doubles will appear highlighted in red (see picture below).
This is known as a “Player Hold”, indicating that you may not want to assign a board to this match.
Once the player is eliminated from the prior competition, the highlighting will be removed automatically, informing that the player is now available and it is “safe” to assign a board to their new match.
Note: Player holds are informational only and will not prevent you from assigning a board if you choose to. Be mindful that this will send a board call notification to players which may cause confusion.
How To Turn OFF Player Highlighting
If you do NOT want players to be highlighted, you can turn this off by opening the Tools Menu and selecting “Manage Player Highlighting”.
Common Reasons To Turn Highlighting Off:
When setting up the brackets for competitions in advance but not playing them concurrently. Turn off highlighting if you find it distracting.
If for any reason a player is being highlighted incorrectly and the hold information is false. This can happen if there is an uncommon sequence of setting up event brackets, including if a redraw was performed.
