Leagues that use the Advanced Match Builder (AMB) and play sets with a multi-game format (ex: “Chicago” and “501-Cricket-Choice”) have the following options to guide players in the scoring app:

• List games in the order they should be played
• Enforce a rule where no game type can be played a second time until all games have been played once
• Allow all game types to be available for deciding legs (example: 501-Cricket-Choice format)

What is “Chicago”?

The Chicago format is typically Best of 3 legs and includes the following games:  501 SIDO, Cricket and 301 DIDO.  “Traditional Chicago” rules are any game can be chosen for any leg by the starting player, but no game can be played twice.

* Please note that different regions may call “Chicago” by a different name such as “Penguin” and may not follow the same rules as “Traditional Chicago”.

Chicago Variations – DartConnect’s options will support leagues that also apply the following rules:

• Games must be played in a specific order – DartConnect will list the games in the order they are to be played AND highlight the specific game to play for each leg
• A game can be played in any order but may not be played a second time until all games have been played once – DartConnect will remove game buttons as they are played and then reactivate them after all game types have been selected
• Any game can be selected for a “Deciding Leg” – if a tie-breaker leg is required, all games can be made available for the deciding leg.  This is most common for the “501-Cricket-Choice” format.  This setting should NOT be used for “Traditional Chicago”.

If your league’s match format includes the rules above, follow the instructions below to enable these features in the scoring app.

Note: These settings are “set-specific” and must be applied to each separate set in the AMB that requires them.

How To List Games In A Specific Order:

• When you create the game menu, add the games in the order in which you want them to appear in the scoring app
• Change the listing order by clicking “Change Game Order” in the Games List and using the small green arrows:

Game Order Options:

• If you are setting up the AMB for the first time or creating a new format, the game order options will appear when more than 1 game is added
• If you are already using the AMB, select any set and click the “Edit+” link to update settings to include the game ordering rules:
  
• If you have more than one game assigned to this set, the following options will appear:

Choose ONE of the Following:

1. Games Can Be Played In ANY Order – Select this option for:
   • Helping players remember which game has already been played
   • “Traditional Chicago” (see description above)
2. Games Must Be Played in SPECIFIC Order – Select this option for:
   • Guiding players by highlighting the specific game to play for each leg
   • “501-Cricket-Choice” – select “Deciding Leg Override” to enable “Choice” of games for tie-breaker

Deciding Leg  Override

This setting makes all games available for deciding legs and is most commonly used for “501-Cricket-Choice” to enable the “choice” of all games for the tie-breaker. DO NOT select this for “Traditional Chicago” which requires the deciding leg to be the game that has not yet been played.

Traditional Chicago Settings:

Games Can Be Played In ANY Order

501-Cricket-Choice Settings:

Games Must Be Played In SPECIFIC Order
+ Deciding Leg Override

How It Works – Scoring App Game Menu:

1. Games Can Be Played In ANY Order
Example: Cricket was selected for leg 1 and is removed until all game types are played

2. Games Must Be Played In SPECIFIC Order
Example: Only 501 is available for Leg 1. After 501 is completed, the Cricket Button will be highlighted for Leg 2

Note: If the incorrect game is selected, a warning message will appear informing that this game will be played out of order.
