What are No-Score Turns?

No-Score Turns let league administrators decide what happens when one team shows up with fewer players than the other in doubles, triples, quads or “team” match sets.

The setting is especially important for match sets that allow 5 or more players per side, set up in the Advanced Match Builder (AMB). In those formats, such as Team/All-In and Marathon x01, uneven player counts are common. League administrators choose one of two “No-Score Turn” options for each set:

1. Yes: The shorthanded team is penalized with a No-Score turn wherever a player is missing.
2. No: The shorthanded team keeps throwing in rotation, with no penalty.

Set It Up In The Advanced Match Builder:

League administrators set No-Score Turns separately for each match set in the AMB.

1. Open your league division’s format in the Advanced Match Builder.
   1. For a new format, go to the Players section of the set.
   2. For an existing format, open the set and click Edit +.
2. Set Team Size (Doubles, Triples, Quads or Team).
3. Under No-Score Turns, choose Yes or No.
4. Repeat for every match set in the format, then click Save.

How It Works

Yes — No-Score Turns is ON. Each time the shorthanded team reaches a missing player’s spot in the order, the scoring app enters a No-Score turn, shown as --. That team throws fewer darts over the leg.  See the example in the picture posted above.

No — No-Score Turns is OFF. The shorthanded team skips nothing and cycles back to the top of its order. Both teams throw the same number of darts, unless the team that threw first wins the leg.

FAQ

Does a No-Score turn count against a player’s stats? No, players who are participating will have standard stats recorded for the darts they throw.

What if both teams are shorthanded? No-Score turns only apply when the teams have different numbers of players. If both teams have 4 players, nobody is penalized.

Can a captain turn this off on match night? No, this setting is locked and can only be changed by the league administrator.
